GAR given go-ahead for peacekeeping operation, Khoss Knylenn appeals to rebels

As the tense standoff between the Coalition and House Kuat continues, we have received word that the Coalition has requested a contingent of the Republics Grand Army to aid in protecting key infrastructure on Kuat. While any GAR forces have yet to appear, hopes are high that the request will be approved and security on world will improve as a result.

In addition to this, a number of holonet advertisements have been making the rounds. Appealing directly to the rebel forces, these videos star both Khoss Knylenn and General Racszak reminding the rebel soldiers that it isn’t too late to return to the fold, as well as pointing out that this may be their last opportunity to do so as any action against Kuat will be in breach of the constitution and they will therefore be at risk of losing Kuati citizenship and instead be viewed as enemy combatants.

It is clear that the coalition hopes these adverts will achieve a breakthrough with at least some of the Colonels forces, and further reduce the power held by the fragments of House Kuat. As always we will bring you updates on this situation as it progresses.

Khoss announces war on corruption

Khoss Knylenn has today announced a wide range of measures intended to “wage war” upon the plague of corruption currently hitting the Kuat Sector. After implementing the former regimes’ plan for an Auditor-Generals office, the new measures provide the office with more manpower and wider reaching powers to tackle financial crime within the sector.

Almost 100,000 personnel have been deployed to the Auditor-Generals office and law enforcement agencies throughout the sector to take a frontline role in the war. Alongside this, further regulations regarding the registration of property and business ownership within the sector are to be implemented with all business ownership being verified by the auditors office. In addition, laws are being changed to allow unlimited fines and minimum jail terms for officials and business leaders caught committing financial crimes.

The regime has also announced a change to government procurement contracts in order to tackle corruption at the highest levels. Effective immediately all documents and decision making processes involved within procurement tenders will be made available to the public within 24 hours of creation. This comes amid rumours of former House Kuat personnel awarding substantial tenders to close acquaintances and businesses registered solely to enter the tendering process.

The war on corruption is clearly only in an early stage, but these new actions taken by the Knylenn regime are expected to make a major impact upon the problem within the sector.

Kuat ramps up fight against corruption with whistleblower scheme

Protection and rewards for whistleblowers are the headline entry in Kuats latest activity against corruption. With a new hotline set up within the auditor-general’s office, whistleblowers who provide information that leads to criminal charges will stand to be rewarded with up to 1 million credits, as well as full anonymity and protection from the state.

Alongside this scheme, further measures to reduce corruption in government have been announced including a lobbying registrar, in which all meetings and donations must be logged publicly, along with laws guaranteeing prison time for those found to be acting illegally.

Fully funded compliance training and a registrar of interest for all businesses operating within the sector round off the measures announced today. All businesses within the Sector will now be able to take advantage of fully funded training schemes for their compliance officers, who will also be trained to pinpoint potential corruption and which information to forward to the auditor-general. Meanwhile all businesses operating within the sector will now be required to report the payments made to other governments as well as all parties with an interest within the business operations.

The Khoss Regime clearly has a bit in its teeth over corruption, and these latest measures certainly ramp up the perceived war. A long slog is ahead, but all moves made so far are “draining the swamp” so to speak.

Kuat kickstarts terraforming efforts on Daver

The world of Daver Kuat has long been a sparsely populated world only viewed while pilots passed by to the paradise of Kuat. While temperate, the global average temperature is substantially lower than the galactic average, and proves a limiting factor to investment and expansion to the world. In an effort to revitalise the dormant terraforming industry on Kuat, tenders have now been published in order to finally transform Daver into a tropical paradise and bring forward colonisation plans. With an expected budget of some 5 quadrillion credits per year, the project is a significant investment into potential, and with the growing refugee crisis in the Galaxy, Khoss Knylenn's pet project is unlikely to struggle for colonists.

Knylenn comments on the refugee crisis

With the Core of the Galaxy suffering from a rapid outbreak of plague, a growing refugee crisis is slowly radiating from Coruscant and other affected worlds. With billions of sentients now fleeing the disease, surrounding sectors are now taking their own steps to manage the influx, ranging wildly from closed borders to harbouring the refugees in aid camps. Speaking at a function earlier today, Knylenn of Knylenn, Khoss Knylenn, reiterated comments made by the Kuati senator in that the Kuat Sector will not open itself up to the spreading disease. He assured the public that while Kuat will aid in this crisis, it will only do so once medical tests are rapid and widely available. Once this is the case Knylenn assured us that those testing negative will be granted refuge, most likely on the world of Daver Kuat.

Meanwhile fringe commentators have been calling for a closed border scenario, or at the very least only aiding the Humans affected by the crisis, with the increasingly popular Giddean Farrick stating "Why should Kuat open itself to a disease brought about by the savagery of the aliens!? While we should aid humans in this, let the aliens deal with their own plague, Knylenn must do the right thing!"
